The amount of time that today's youth spends on the internet is ridiculous. They believe that all of the knowledge they need in the world today can be found on it. These kids are not gaining intelligence like they should be. Today, my history professor shared that every semester, the literacy of her students was getting worse. She explained that the ability to decode a document and understand what it is saying is not something some of her students can do. Getting off of the internet and picking up a book could drastically improve a person's ability to comprehend a document.
This generation has been brought up with Facebook and Twitter as a part of their lives. Ever since their young teenage years, they have been keeping their social media accounts up to speed several times a day, constantly checking them. Teenagers post things such as crazy parties with alcohol and have different posts containing drugs. Little do they know is that when they go and try to get a job, employers dig deep on you and find this stuff. They will deem the individual as "undesirable" and move on to the next possible candidate.
Today's youth needs to spend less time on the internet, and more time reading a book or studying things that will better their intelligence. The internet is not going to get you ready for the real world. Half of the stuff on the internet is garbage. Yeah there are educational sites that will actually teach you something, but there will always be a way for you to end up somewhere else reading about what a celebrity did last week in New York. Today's youth needs to get a grip and try picking up a book instead of spending countless hours on their phones.

Does the Media affect people's minds?
Does the media affect the way people think? Some may never stop to think about it and just get on with their lives. They will never notice that everything around could possibly tie into something that the media has portrayed. It is as if we are living in a world that is simply controlled by the media. People are basically their puppets and thrive off of the media.
With action films, children often tend to emulate the movie hero, engaging them to violent acts which would not be seen as acceptable but is in the child's mind because their hero was successful. Children often hurt themselves or others by trying to pull stunts they see in movies because they think it looked "cool". This is evidence that the media does actually have an affect on their minds because it is causing them to perform these acts. Violent video games have a strong influence as well. Kids play as violent characters that hurt people and commit crimes that the children may deem as, "looking like fun". This can cause serious repercussions to come up in an individual's life.
The media absolutely has an affect on people's minds. Children grow up needing to have their fix of video games and social media. It's as if it is all their drug and they need it in order to survive. People are informed on how to do acts that are deemed controversial to society because of the media. When people are asked why they did something wrong, they sometimes say that they saw it online and it looked like fun to them. The media has taken control of the world today and it doesn't look like it'll change anytime soon.
